Career Summary

Peta came to the Law following a brief career in the IT industry with IBM. After placements with Dutton Gregory & Williams in Winchester and Lovell, White, Durant in London, Peta joined Davies Arnold Cooper (DAC) as a trainee solicitor in September 1991 where she completed training placements with the property department, the corporate department and commercial litigation.

On qualification Peta joined the commercial litigation department in the London office of DAC, handling a caseload of professional indemnity defence claims on behalf of Surveyors, Accountants and Solicitors. She also dealt with policy coverage disputes and recovery actions. In May 1995 Peta transferred to the Manchester office of DAC where she undertook a caseload of predominately defendant personal injury work. She was also involved in a range of general litigation matters on behalf of insurers, including property damage and policy disputes.

In September 2002 Peta moved to the Manchester office of Merricks LLP as a senior assistant where she dealt with a range of commercial disputes as well as both claimant and defendant personal injury cases.

In March 2004 Peta left Merricks LLP to set up Webster O'Brien with John Webster and Wayne Thompson.
