Our History

Webster O'Brien Solicitors is a specialist litigation practice established in April 2004 by John Webster, Wayne Thompson and Peta O'Brien. The firm traded for a year as a traditional Partnership and became a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) the following year. We became a limited company in 2009. The firm is based in the historic Broadstone Mill in the Holdsworth Village area of Stockport.

The Partners come from a background of large national practices and were trained in City of London firms. Webster O’Brien is therefore able to provide clients with the experience of City trained lawyers at local firm prices.

In October 2005, as part of our planned expansion, we acquired the practice of Vickers Jones Wood & Co, which had been established under the name of R Vickers & Co in Stockport, back in 1982. That practice amalgamated with fellow Stockport firm Jones Wood & Co to become Vickers Jones Wood in 1988 and then operated for a number of years from premises in Bramhall.

With the acquisition by Webster O’Brien the firm traded under the style of Vickers Webster O’Brien in Bramhall until it was fully merged with the main practice in 2007.
