Bob began his legal career as an articled clerk with Neville Brooks & Company Solicitors in Manchester. On completion of his articles he was admitted as a solicitor in December 1974 and continued as an assistant with that practice until 1978 whereupon he became a partner.
In 1985 Bob founded his own practice of Robert Vickers & Co in Stockport and in 1987 he moved on to found Vickers Jones Wood & Co with several new partners based in Bramhall in Cheshire. Bob specialised in residential Conveyancing and commercial property work. He also developed an expertise in matrimonial and family law.
In 1991 Bob was appointed as a Stipendiary Magistrate sitting in South Yorkshire. Bob coupled this with continuing to run Vickers Jones Wood & Co. He finally resigned as a Stipendiary Magistrate with effect from 1996.
Bob, having gained substantial experience in criminal law was invited to undertake prosecution work for the Crown Prosecution Service on an agency basis and continues with that to this day.
In October 2005 Vickers Jones Wood & Co was acquired by Webster O'Brien LLP and Bob took the opportunity to step down from the partnership but continues as a Senior Consultant with the practice.
